Began career with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in January, 1982 as a Deputy Sheriff. Has served in the Jail Division, as a Patrol Deputy, Warrant Division Deputy and also in the Criminal and Narcotic’s Divisions while coordinating the Birmingham Area Crimestoppers Program. Under Sheriff Mike Hale assigned in 2002 to Sheriff’s Office administration as head of the Sheriff’s Office Media Bureau while rising to the rank of Lieutenant. Appointed to the position of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy January 1, 2010. Chief Deputy is the highest ranking non elected position in the Sheriff’s Office. The Chief Deputy answers directly to the Sheriff, is responsible for the day to day operations of the Sheriff’s Office and fulfills the duties of the Sheriff in his absence.
